For me, the hoodwinked sound track does it for me. Yes I know, i'm an idiot.

Otherwise, Anything Classical (Sarah Brightmen) or Metal (Slipknot) Quite different from each other I know but still, it depends on my mood

Right now my new favorite music is The Bastard Fairies album Memento Mori. They're a little known band still trying to make a name for themselves. I recommend checking them out on YouTube and if you like them the majority of their album is free on their website or myspace page.

Right now I'm listening to my furnace which is about 6' from my back. If I were listening to music, it'd probably be something from the holidays. If I were to choose regular music, it'd be oldies. Probably Beach Boys, Three Dog Night or Creedence Clearwater Revival. Individual singers instead of groups might include Johnny Horton, John Denver or Johnny Rivers.

Well, yes, I suppose so. However, there are more single artists in my music collection. Linda Ronstadt, Neil Diamond, Nat King Cole, C.W. McCall. Buddy Holly, The Platters, Glenn Miller. Many compilations from the 50s through the 80s. The Royal Guardsmen. Star Wars soundtrack. Ray Stevens. Even volume # 1 & # 2 of the Disney soundtrack songs. Excluding WDRC-FM 102.9 in CT., the last thing I listened to as far as music goes was Rosemary Clooney Christmas songs.

Classical, that's stuff like Brahms, Beethoven, Bach. Funny thing is that the Brit groups most popular in the 60s are not among my favorites even though one of the first songs I can recall hearing and still one of my favorites is Ruby Tuesday.

Some I do remember exactly when, others are songs I've heard and liked from oldies station I listen to. Amazing Grace is one I do remember. Came out as a top 40 hit during our Bicentennial. The Guards and the Black Watch were touring the U.S. My "memory" tells me that The Streak was out about the same time. Here's some more.
Arthur Brown = Fire
Norman Greenbaum = Spirit In The Sky
Grand Funk Railroad = Locomotion.
Procol Harum = Conquistador
??? = Life Is A ROCK(and the radio rolled me). Never could remember the name of the artist on that last one. All I remember is that every radio station was substituting their own call letters whenever it came "the radio rolled me".

know there was a thread about this before, but I can't find it... so I thought that I'd make another.

Here's mine:
Simple Plan - Shut Up

The lyrics reflect to what I would love to say to a lot of people that I see everyday. Very true indeed, copy and paste the lyrics of your songs if you like.

There you go
You're always so right
It's all a big show
It's all about you
You think you know
What everyone needs
You always take time to criticize me
It seems like everyday
I make mistakes
I just can't get it right
It's like I'm the one you love to hate
But not today

So shut up, shut up, shut up
Don't wanna hear it
Get out, get out, get out
Get out of my way
Step up, step up, step up
You'll never stop me
Nothing you say today
Is gonna bring me down

There you go
You never ask why
It's all a big lie
Whatever you do
You think you're special
But I know and I know and I know
And we know that you're not
You're always there to point
Out my mistakes
And shove them in my face
It's like I'm the one you love to hate
But not today

So shut up, shut up, shut up
Don't wanna hear it
Get out, get out, get out
Get out of my way
Step up, step up, step up
You'll never stop me
Nothing you say today
Is gonna bring me down
(Shut up, shut up, shut up)
Is gonna bring me down
(Shut up, shut up, shut up)
You'll never bring me down

Don't tell me who I should be
(Don't tell me who I should be)
And don't try to tell me what's right for me
Don't tell me what I should do
I don't wanna waste my time
I'll watch you fade away

So shut up, shut up, shut up
Don't wanna hear it
Get out, get out, get out
Get out of my way
Step up, step up, step up
You'll never stop me
Nothing you say today
Is gonna bring me down

Shut up, shut up, shut up
Don't wanna hear it
Get out, get out, get out
Get out of my way
Step up, step up, step up
You'll never stop me
Nothing you say is gonna bring me down,
Bring me down
(Shut up, shut up, shut up)
You won't bring me down,
Bring me down
(Shut up, shut up, shut up)
Won't bring me
SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP!

EDIT: That "Iraq" shit was my brother, he was using this account...but, Password changed, he isn't going to use it.

Now, song that suits me...hm....Well, this is a hard question now isn't it! Well, last year I did some stupid stuff...all in one day. I lost the love of my life because of this: I got into a fight with my best friend, and It got nasty, and we actually wound up Under a Bridge, punching, kicking, you name it. There wasn't really a "winner", while I think I won the fight, my girlfriend (who was there, Yeah, I know, quite classy of me to have her there >.>) help tend to my friend. At first I was mad, now I see she was helping the better person. So, me, being pissed off, I went and bought some drugs, did them...Now, however..I am MUCH better. I consider myself a gentleman and I am drug free. The song, you ask?

"Under The Bridge" by The Red Hot Chili Peppers

Sometimes I feel
Like I dont have a partner
Sometimes I feel
Like my only friend
Is the city I live in
The city of angel
Lonely as I am
Together we cry

I drive on her streets
cause shes my companion
I walk through her hills
cause she knows who I am
She sees my good deeds
And she kisses me windy
I never worry
Now that is a lie

I dont ever want to feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way

Its hard to believe
That theres nobody out there
Its hard to believe
That Im all alone
At least I have her love
The city she loves me
Lonely as I am
Together we cry

I dont ever want to feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way

Under the bridge downtown
Is where I drew some blood
Under the bridge downtown
I could not get enough
Under the bridge downtown
Forgot about my love
Under the bridge downtown
I gave my life away

Alright...well, I'm just going to make a list...One I like and one of garb..I mean...Dislike

Like:
Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sex Pistols, The Ramones, The Misfits, The Rolling Stones, The Killers, The Clash, and David Bowie.

Dislike:
Slipknot: Why? I hate Nu-Metal and I wouldn't consider them Metal at all
Disturbed:Why? Read Above
Senses Fail: I HATE EMO
MCR:Read Above
Linkin Park: Used to, not any more though, no reason.
Any Rap: Why? It isn't music.

Two Hints? Where? O.o

Um, well, from my known knowledge of this "music", I have no clue who the Mother is (Though I would say an African ^_^) and it's name could be several things:

Real
American
Poetry

Retards
Attempting
Poetry

Really
Awful
Poetry

^_^

Rap Is noting but noise and angry words or ideas set to a bad beat... a beat along the lines of a pair of sneakers banging around in a running dryer...

A pair of sneakers in a running dryer, you say? Two things wrong with that...not to be racist

1. Africans don't wash clothes!
2. I believe you meant "Sneakers running on a basketball court"

^_^.

I beg to differ and I OBVIOUSLY see you have NO experience with the African culture! J/k j/k....

If you are going to say the music sounds horribly and use something like that , I would suggest:

1. Shit coming from a buffalo's asshole
2.A baby crying
3.Traffic
4.A dying cow.
5.Soulja Boi

Delete please.

Hm...I seem to have completely fucked up! This ENTIRE thread is meant to be on another board O.o. I apologize...may this be buried.

Well, I think we established that we would rather eat shit from an obese man's asshole then listen to 10 straight hours of rap (Though You can NOT say old rap was bad...I'm talking about NWA, Tupac...there were the few, and I mean FEW, good rap artists)

So....anyone like the Big Four of Thrash? My favorite is Metallica, then a three way tie between Anthrax, Megadeth and Slayer (Though Slayer is a little bit Antichrist/Dark for me).

^o^

Dearie me. I just realized I had a tad bit of Racism in my posts O.o

I didn't mean to do that, but to me it appears my posts about rap contained a little racism to the African culture. I would like to apologize, and also say I had NO intentions of this.

DEAR GOD Don't get me wrong on this, I'm trying to sound as Nice as possible without insulting your taste....

That has to be the WORST song I have ever heard by a female. Katy Perry is a sad excuse for musician. Her songs are unimaginative! Seriously...I kissed a girl ? Well I fucked that same girl, hope you don't fucking mind it Katy. And "Your So Gay"? That sounds like an insult a 10 year old would say! Sure she has a GREAT voice...but she SOMEHOW has sold out before even starting! It's like cheating on a test that hasn't been made because you know how the teacher works! I'm sorry, but Katy Perry is one steaming pile of shit coming from a Diarrhea Dog's ass . Don't take any of that the wrong way, I'm just saying I hate Katy Perry.

What do you guys think is the worst song/genre ever?

80's New Wave

I'm convinced that 80's Hair Metal and Glam Rock killed Music

Yes..the 80's weren't a good time for music...

Not to say that there weren't good artists in the 80's...but the ratio of good to bad bands was something like 1:35

Well..

Band=Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Cream, David Bowie, Iron Maiden, Sex Pistols...

For anything else...Michael Jackson, Jim Morrison, and Sting...OLD Sting.

80's and lower? I agree some of the 80's was shit, well, A LOT.

But you CANNOT say that the 70's and 60's were bad, because there was none of this Emo, Nu-Metal, Pop Rock, or ANYTHING Like that! Hell, 80's was the time of Metal...Every band from 80's down were the ones who influenced most artists and music itself.

Right now, probably my favorite song (Well, the one I've listened to A LOT) is Angel of Death, By Slayer.

Not too often you see a song about the experiments and etc during the Holocaust.

The Killers...Now THERE is a good alternative band

... and NWA gangsta rap the original

The one good rap group, in my opinion.

Coming Straight Outta Compton

I've recently abandoned Metallica for...

IRON MAIDEN.

Iron Maiden is the shit now :]

I've always liked The Killers, but now I'm listening to about all their songs.

Favorite Song...Probably Read My Mind

Oddly enough, I'm starting to like Micheal Jackson. I don't tell a lot of people because they look at me because they ALL remember him as a boy toucher... :'[ . He should be remembered as the King of Pop

White Chapel, My Children My Bride, Bullets for My Valentine..

Love me all ;]

Lordi- Devil is a loser

Devil Is A Loser

You wanted power and you begged for fame you wanted everything the easy way
You wanted gain without pain now your bill's in the mail
You got stronger but your mind got weak you made a promise you couldn't keep
You had it all you lost more it's all there in the fee
Via hell incorporated regeneration first you love it then you hate it you're such a saint

Mine would undoubtedly have to be Working Man by Rush.

I get up at seven, yeah,
And I go to work at nine.
I got no time for livin',
Yes, I'm workin' all the time.

Chorus:
It seems to me
I could live my life
A lot better than I think I am.
I guess that's why they call me,
They call me the working man.

They call me the working man.
I guess that's what I am.

I get home at five o'clock,
And I take myself out a nice, cold beer.
Always seem to be wonderin'
Why there's nothin' goin' down here.

Chorus:
It seems to me
I could live my life
A lot better than I think I am.
I guess that's why they call me,
They call me the working man.

Well they call me the working man.
I guess that's what I am.

Actually, mine is Closer by Nine Inch Nails. Not as much the lyrics, but the music as well. Its dark, erotic beauty and conveys a strong sense of frustration over ones self and frustration over a desire for something more than flesh - something higher, transcendence...

Rap Is noting but noise and angry words or ideas set to a bad beat... a beat along the lines of a pair of sneakers banging around in a running dryer...

it had nothing to do with Africa or the culture...
and it was sung by a " Blond"...
and it was almost a Sci-Fi based song...
She did both group and single releases ... and the song was specially cut to 10 min for release in UK Discos in 1981

Music Quiz ...

for all the music inclined

Who is the Mother of "RAP Music" and where did "Rap Music get" it's name...

I've already given you 2 hints...

Answer :

Rapture... By Blondie in 1980/81 ... written and sung by the female lead Deborah Harry

It was called " that rap song" in the late 80's in many music circles, and later in the 90's the young Black music artists and music Icons coined the term "Rap" from the original title and song

See, there's one thing wrong with that. Rap isn't music. I would love to hear some of the Rap recording artists try to actually sing. Setting spoken words to an instrumental sound track isn't music. The dog baking version of Jingle Bells is more musical that any Rap "song" will ever be.

Easy 2 say.. Sonata Arctica - Shy:

I can see how you are beautiful, can you feel my eyes on you,
I'm shy and turn my head away
Working late in diner Citylight, I see that you get home alright
Make sure that you can't see me, hoping you will see me

Sometimes I'm wondering why you look me and you blink your eye
You can't be acting like my Dana (can you)
I see you in Citylight diner serving all those meals and then
I see reflections of me in your eye, oh please

Talk to me, show some pity
You touch me in many, many ways
But I'm shy can't you see

Obsessed by you, your looks, well, anyway "I would any day die for you",
I write on paper erased away
Still I sit in diner Citylight, drinking coffee or reading lies
Turn my head and I can see you, could that really be you

Sometimes I'm wondering why you look me and you blink your eye
You can't be acting like my Dana?
I see your beautiful smile and I would like to run away from
Reflections of me in your eyes, oh please

Talk to me, show some pity
You touch me in many, many ways
But I'm shy can't you see

I see, can't have you, can't leave you, there 'cause I must sometimes see you
And I don't understand how you can keep me in chains
And every waking hour, I feel you taking power From me and I can't leave
Repeating the scenery over again

Sometimes I'm wondering why you look me and you blink your eye
You can't be acting like my Dana?
I see your beautiful smile and I would like to run away from
Reflections of me in your eyes, oh please

Talk to me, show some pity
You touch me in many, many ways
But I'm shy can't you see,

Oh baby, Talk to me, show some pity
You touch me in many, many ways
But I'm shy can't you, I'm shy can't you, I'm shy can't you see

The problem is that, in my life, Reznor is (almost) on the same caliber as Bowie, and has has a massive impact on my life. It's not something that can be easily explained except to say that I feel a very deep connection to Reznor's work. Does that make it better than anything you mentioned? No. It only means that I identify with it, nothing more. It may not be the best technically or had the most world-wide impact, but it means something to me, ergo I like it. I don't expect other people to. It's like me saying Final Fantasy VII is my favorite game of all time. Does that mean it's the best game of all time? Absolutely not. I'll be the first to admit that it's overrated in many ways, but it's still my favorite game.

I like Lou Reed a lot, and Mick Jagger is obviously good, influential, and has had an amazing career as well, but their music simply doesn't enrapture me so completely like that of Nine Inch Nails.
