Just out of curiosity, let's see what everyone's favorite anime/s are.

This anime is what every boy dreams is or should be. Keitaro is trying to get into Tokyo U, but his entrance grades are lacking, so to make money while he studies he works at an ALL GIRL DORMITORY WITH BEAUTIFUL GIRLS IN IT!! God I want to try to get into Tokyo U.

Chrono Crusade does have nuns with guns, Vegetunks...
But there's a very good plot underneath it all...
The manga is better than the anime, though.

That would depend on what mood I'm in at the moment. As the author points out, Japanese animation is mostly character and story-driven, thus necessitating it being episodic, whereas American animation just has small stories, largely independent of one another. As indicated, that probably has roots in which audience for whom the animation was developed. This is probably best shown for American animation, which favors an audience with a short attention span, given that it originally targeted children.

But I'm probably getting off topic. Back to the point, if I want just simple entertainment, I'll go with American, whereas if I want something that's generally more mentally stimulating, I'll go with Japanese.

I remeber watching the first Urotsukodoji when i was 11 lol i was like WTF? hmm my fav anime now thats hard to narrow down, do i go for my fav comedy, romance, action or watever lol FLCL is definetly in the top ten but hmmm im not sure but for now i'll go with Sailor Moon Original Japanesse version before the americans butchered it.

animae...hmmm. i did like Dragon Drive, Golgo 13 and Ghost in the Shell, also thought Akira and Vampire Hunter D were very cool as for Naruto i personally think it is more of the same old jap stereotype ninja bs without the usual giant super samurai robots thos give it a few more episodes and i think they will work something in

At the moment, It would possibly be the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya. I've even gone on to read the books in the series :P

Haven't read volume 9 yet though. The author kinda loses his touch after volume 4. With all the questions that continue to go unanswered and new questions arising, it gets a little tiresome after a while.

But if not for hurhi, it would probably Rozen Maiden or Ghost in the Shell, Stand Alone Complex :)

i like both anime, but when it comes to better hardcore fight scenes i'd have to give it to japanese anime. american anime has some great stuff but it doesn't have the depth in storyline or the quanity of high quality show that japanese anime has been producing for years.

This is really hard to debate. There is a lot of Japanese Anime that is awesome such as Akira and Evangelion. Then there is other stuff like Afro Samurai, which is american made, which is awesome. Japanese anime is generally better made, however.

You are going to find all Foreign Anime far more graphic and violent than that produced commercially here in the US

I have to say i dont actually have a prefferance, only cuz i really can't deciede i like both alot, both old and new stuff... i mean they each have their bad spots but i really can't say i prefer one to another...

The americans doesn't have talents like the Japeness I have to say and the Americans anime are way more for children then older people. Like Teen Titans are alot more for little child *sorry if you disagree about that it's just my point of view*

Japanese anime is the best. American ones are good but focus more on dialogue.

i think that Japanese has the oldest roots and generally the better animators. however American has come a long way and i see in the not to far future it being able to contend.

if its manga it is jojos bizarre adventure(i dont care what anyone says,kujo jotaro is the coolest anime/manga character ever)

I'll agree with Ghost in the Shell " Stand Alone Complex " , for me that's #1 , but Bleach is up there as well .... I go to ju-ni a site in Japan to catch the new episodes of Bleach .... I also favor FMA and DBZ as some of my favs. from the days gone by .... I'm not quite sure since I haven't watched a lot of anime. My favorite anime movie is Ninja Scroll and my favorite series is FMP/FMP Fumoffu.

Hard to say, but DBZ and Dragonball rank up there, especially since they were among the first anime I ever watched. I like Full Metal Alchemist alot too.
