Poser is a 3D program that takes "models" and allows you to move them around and "pose" them. In general, most of the 3D images here were probably rendered using Poser; there may be some, however, where the creator had experience using programs like 3D Studio Max, Lightwave, or Maya (and sometimes ZBrush) that can build the individual figures and render the scenes, but doing this takes a
great deal more time and skill than I have.
I use Poser because it's relatively easy to use, there's literally tons of possibilities for it, and I don't have to try to model the individual figures. Any postwork (adding effects, text, etc) is all done in Photoshop.
The only downside is that you're limited to the figures, clothing, props, and equipment that are made available for Poser, unless you have skill in 3DSMax, Lightwave, Maya, or ZBrush. There's a wide, wide breadth of stuff out there, but nearly all of it is designed for human figures, and even then, an extraordinarily large chunk of it is designed for
female human figures.
Anywho: Here's page 12.
