It never fails. Everytime someone posts a new game there are a few people having trouble running the game. And others try to help them but they still end up confused so I'm going to post very detailed instructions of how to play these games using several applications. And feel free to post other methods to play these games. These step-by-step instructions are for WindowsXP
Setting you computer to Japanese unicode
My computer is alwas set in Japanese unicode mainly because you need to restart your computer everytime you set it back and forth, so I just leave it there. There is that comcast site that tells you how to do it but i always get a 404 error going there so here are detailed instructions of how to set your computer to Japanese unicode.
1. Go to Start, Then Settings, Then Control Panel
2. Double-click on Regional and Language Settings
3. Click on the languages tab at the top and there should be two check-mark boxes. Select install east asian languages and click apply. If it's already checked then you already have it installed, but if you don't then here it will ask you to install the files. Now the files may already be on your computer and just not installed or you need an xp disk. If you have the files, then when you click okay they will start installing. If you don't then it'll ask for the disk. You can use any xp disk, they all work the same. If you don't have a disk Scroll down to the end of this post.
4. Click back on the general tab. There you should see two drop down boxes one at the top and one at the bottom. Set the top drop down to japanese by selecting it in the drop down menu. Then change the second drop down box to japan by selecting it in the drop down menu.
5. Up at the top click on the advanced tab.
6. There should be another drop down box, from there select japanese from the drop down menu. Usually here it will ask you to install the japanese language pack to the computer. If you know you have the pack installed then skip to the next step.
7.Select Japanese from the drop down menu and then click the apply button.
8. Another window will pop up saying the computer will have to be restarted before the settings will take effect. Before you click OK make sure that nothing else is running because it will restart your computer after clicking OK. If all is fine then Click OK
9. When your computer loads up it will have Japanese unicode running so you can play the Japanese games. To set your computer back simply follow the steps again and change all of the drop down boxes to english or whatever language you speak.
This usually works for most games but for those big games Like the ones Illusion makes you will need to do this and mount your game to a virtual drive to play it. Since it will need a game disk to play. Next I will tell you how to do this.
I use Daemon Tools to run ALL of my games and it works all the time so I will tell you how to install then mount the games.
Mounting Games Using Daemon Tools
1. If you don't have daemon tools go to
http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/down...tegory&catid=5 and download daemon tools. If you have daemon tools and it is installed skip to step 5.
2. After it is finished downloading Run it from wherever you saved it to install it.
3. At the beginning of the download it will tell you you'll need to restart your computer because it has to change some things on your computer for it to work. Allow it and let your computer restart.
4. After you have booted back up re-double click on the daemon tools installer from wherever you saved it and go through the prompt to install it.
5. After it is installed there should be a red circle with a lightning bolt through it on your taskbar in the lower right hand corner by your clock. If there isnt then go to where you installed it, usually C:\Program Files\DAEMON Tools and click on the daemon.exe to launch it.
6. Down in the taskbar right-click on that icon and scroll up to the emulation tab and select all options on. This will turn your red icon green in the taskbar.
7. Right-click it again and scroll to Virtual CD/DVD ROM, then to set number of devices and then click on 1 drive. A prompt will show asking you to wait.
8. Now in your My Computer there should be another CD/DVD Drive in there. If it isn't redo step 7
9. Right click on the icon in your taskbar again scroll to Virtual CD/DVD ROM, Then Device 0: [Drive letter]: No Media, then click on mount image.
10. This will open up your browser and locate the game .iso wherever you saved or extracted the file. Double Click on it. Another prompt will show telling you to wait, then the game should run.
11. If it doesn't, go to My Computer and double click on the drive you mounted the game too. (usually the one with a game icon) to run the installer. If it still doesnt run then right click on the drive you mounted the game to and select explore. There usually is something in there called Setup.exe. double click on it to start the installer.
12. After the game is installed it will usually play automatically.
[NOTE] You will need to mount the game to the drive every time to play the game unless if you have a No DVD Crack. If you do have a crack simply copy and pase it into the root folder of that game where the same named .exe is and allow it to overwrite the file. click on it to enjoy the game.
If you followed my instructions you will be able to enjoy your game, if not read them carefully and follow them to a T or else it wont work.
The last tutorial I will give you is to use a program called Microsoft applocale. With this program you will be able to play games without setting you computer to Japanese unicode all the time. But you will need to have that Japanese language pack installed for it to work with Japanese games.
Microsoft applocale is mainly used for those small games that don't come with a DVD or CD.
Using Applocale
1. Go to
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en and download and install microsoft applocale.
2. After it is installed go to Start, Programs, Microsoft Applocale and click on applocale.
3. Click next and on the next screen, click browse and locate the .exe of the game you want to play. Then click next.
4. In the drop down box select the very last language on the bottom of the drop down menu. Click next.
5. Click Finish and your game should play.
[NOTE] Like I said before the only way Microsoft applocale will work is if you have that Japanese language pack installed. If you don't, the bottom language will appear as a bunch of?
If you Don't have a Disk
No, we are not giving you the full copy of windows XP to download to do it.
Just the files needed to install japanese unicode, Which can be found
here. Download the file, Un-RAR the ISO file, and mount it uning Daemon tools by following my daemon tools tutorial above. After it is mounted, then follow the Setting your computer to Japanese unicode tutorial to get it to install the files needed for Japanese unicode.
If you have other methods to play Japanese games please post them.
