What's a good program for making 3d people? Poser or Quidam?

What kind of computer do you need to run these kinds of 3D programs, like poser? I have an old Dell desktop from 2000 that can barely browse the internet these days.

Thier are plenty programs about but a free program is daz studio.
Version 3 will be out soon as i find posing in poser easier than studio though see what they done with 3.
Studio is a bloody fantastic program and can render superb.
